GMU began to enroll overseas students in 1978, first only undergraduates, and in 1990, postgraduates as well. More than 300 doctoral students, postgraduates, undergraduates, advanced trainees and students of Chinese language from 50 different countries and regions throughout the world have graduated from GMU up to now. Presently over 80 overseas students from about 20 countries are studying at GMU. In addition to the government-funded students, GMU also enrolls self-funded ov erseas students and students from Hong Kong, Macao Special Administrative Regions and Taiwan Province.
